We had lunch here and it was amazing! Ahi Tuna for the win! Also, Mota was wonderful. He made awesome recommendations and was super personable. The ocean view was a beautiful plus as well. Definitely recommend.

This is such a delightful restaurant-- with well positioned umbrellas - it's lovely to sit outside on the patio watching the people at the pool, with the ocean in the distance. Exceptional service; our server (Angelique-- I think was her name), the dynamic young man who refilled our water (Paris), and even the bus staff. The mezcal moment was gorgeous to look at and equally delicious to drink! Loved the flower embed in the beautiful big ice cube. The fig/prosciutto flatbread with goat cheese was absolutely divine. Just the right amount of sweet to counterbalance the salt forward prosciutto and then the goat cheese and arugula added a really well harmonized textural element. The fries - oh the fries. We all know that there's an art to making good sweet potato fries- but when you perfect it in waffle fries that is just a whole other level of respect from me! These were just perfect. Crisp, hot, with flaky salt which was obviously added immediately as they came out of the oil added a nice counterpoint to the sweetness of the sweet potato. Yum!!!! Bruschetta-- decent-- i'm not a fan of tomato jam but my friend wanted to order these - I could have done without. I did appreciate the well toasted, not-soggy, not-tooth crackingly crisp bread. Finally the Brussels. If there are brussels sprouts on the menu, I can't NOT order them. Sadly, these fell short of my expectations. They were overcooked, did not have any crisp (not even the bacon).

Catalina kitchen is one of a couple of restaurants at the beautiful Terranea Resort. It is directly behind the pool area so it has one of the best views of the water, and you'll see the moon above you on a clear night! Checked out their Friday night seafood buffet, and it was spectacular! It's a well kept/known secret among locals. For $85 it's a fantastic deal, considering the items at the buffet and the fact that Sunday brunch buffets at Terranea typically cost more and offer fewer premium items. They even have a menu so you can read everything they have at the buffet and strategically plan your trips to the buffet! Some of the best items at the Friday night buffet: - Carving station with Tomahawk steak, brisket, lamb chops, sausages and more - two types of crab claws - raw oysters - big shrimp cocktail - LONG crab legs (easily the most popular item as there were lines all night for it and people would unfortunately take all of it when a new tray came up. They ended up running out because of this, and then put the regular short crab legs instead) - Massive cheese board with high quality items like prosciutto, figs, dates, European cheeses, fruits, etc - Small salad bar: Pre-tossed salads like crab Louie and Caesar salad as well as build your own - Kids' buffet section with items like burger sliders (served medium, and tasty for adults), fried chicken fingers, jalapenos poppers, fish n chips, and mini corn dog bites - Full gelato/ice cream bar. The best was the charcoal cookies n cream which the staff say they regularly take home if there's leftovers available - Chef-driven sides like Brussels sprouts, hearty Mac and cheese, and more - pizza station with like 3-4 different thin crust pizzas. Great for the kids but tasty enough for adults - Dessert bar. Usually buffets have flavorless or forgettable desserts but I LOVED these! I usually barely touch desserts at a buffet but these were surprisingly outstanding. Other pluses: 1) On top of the great food selection, the service was excellent. Our server offered to get us long crab legs bc we kept standing in line and they'd run out. She also provided a complimentary birthday cake with a candle and sang to help us celebrate a birthday! 2) convenient valet parking 3) Runs much later than most buffets, as it goes from 5-10pm on a Friday. And they still had hot food after 9pm! Downside is that it does get a little crowded and competitive (i.e. carving station and long crab legs). Recommend going early before 6pm, or 730 or later.

Catalina Kitchen is located inside Terranea resort and serves new American cuisine. They have TONS of tables, both indoor & outdoor. They have some bar area seating as well. There's a kids menu like Mac & cheese, chicken tenders etc and they were also nice enough to accommodate and make spaghetti for my toddler. The baked Brie with garlic is delicious and everything else is nothing spectacular but good, solid food.

Our breakfast choice for this Terranea visit resulted in a visit to Catalina Kitchen where we were greeted by a wonderful woman Sonja. Catalina kitchen offers a delightful dining experience that seamlessly blends breathtaking views, inviting indoor and outdoor seating options, and delicious breakfast offerings. As for the breakfast menu, Catalina Kitchen delivers a delightful array of options to satisfy every palate. From classic breakfast favorites like fluffy pancakes and hearty omelettes. We ordered the crab Benedict and the lox bagel with cream cheese. It was pretty good with the exception of the hollandaise sauce being weird and kinda bitter. In addition to the beautiful views and delicious food, Catalina Kitchen is also known for its attentive service. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu, ensuring that guests feel welcome and well taken care of throughout their dining experience. Overall, Catalina Kitchen is a standout dining destination that offers the perfect combination of stunning views, inviting ambiance, and delectable breakfast fare. Whether you're a guest at Terranea Resort or a local looking for a memorable dining experience, Catalina Kitchen is sure to delight your senses and leave you craving a return visit.

This review is for seafood buffet only. * Price: probably we're used to the high price tag of the LA food scene. $73 per person for a seafood extravaganza buffet on Friday night does not seem too bad with the amount and quality of food. 4 stars. * Ambiance: beautiful dining area, spacious indoor, and outdoor with fireplace and heating lamps, ocean view from outdoor area. Romantic but laid back at the same time. 5 stars. * Location: Terranea resort east side, next to Bashi restaurant. If you're not a guest here, you can either valet-park or self-park ($25 daily. $10 with validation). 4 stars. *Meals: Many seafood options (snow crabs, oysters, shrimps, clams, mussles, poke, sushi, etc.), prime rib steak, sausages, charcuterie and cheese board, salads, etc. King crab legs ($50), lobster ($40) can be ordered a-la-carte). 5 stars. * Service: pleasant. 4 stars. We were surprised by low rating and some bad reviews for this place. Came here after having wine tasting at Terranea resort. It was pretty quiet after the holidays, so we did not make reservations and were seated immediately. The outdoor seating has a nice view of the ocean, a beautiful glass fireplace, and plenty of privacy. There were so many good seafood choices, and everything was very fresh. Snow crab legs was lightly seasoning and could be eaten as prepared or with cocktail sauce. Tuna poke was well seasoned and melted in your mouth. There were also many choices of pasta, pizza, salads, etc. There was no surcharge added to your bill. Overall, we were so full and satisfied with our dining experience here.
